Details

Smeego is a Content Management System or Portal System written in PHP and designed to be easy to install and use. It has a mature code and comes with cool modules and themes for you to start your own dynamic and database driven website.

Smeego is perfect to publish news and articles, surveys, reviews, manage users, advertising, files, links, users comments and much more. Very flexible and modular Smeego supports multiple languages. Smeego CMS can be loaded on Linux, Unix, Mac Os X, Windows, BSD and others and comes with support for MySQL, SQLite, Postgresql, MSSQL, Oracle, MS Access, MSSQL-ODBC and DB2. Smeego is open source software released under the terms of the GPL license and is totaly free!



Developer comments

Many of you know the story behing PHP-Nuke. If not, just do a search around on the net.

On October 2007 I sold the PHP-Nuke project to start other activities not related with programming at all. But on March 2008 I realized that programming is my life and I like it too much, so I'm returning to this world.

So, On May 2008, Smeego CMS was born with the idea to continue some works, add lots of missing features, remove the stuff I really didn't like, etc. Smeego will have a different focus than PHP-Nuke. I would like to tansform Smeego into something less geeky and more "for mortals". at the same time I would like to pay extra attention to the themes design.

Smeego has the module AutoTheme included but has a modified PHP-Nuke's theme system.

Anyway, to not making this longer than it should be, you'll notice the difference from version to version and soon we'll have a new concept and walking our own road.

Please, enjoy Smeego and remember that this is free GPL software and comes without any warranty and without technical support, so please don't email me asking how to make this or that, I'll ignore that type of emails.

Smeego isn't perfect, but your suggestions and feedback can help all us to have a very well done portal system!

Requirements:
· A Computer with Linux, Windows, Mac OS X or any UNIX flavor installed and working properly
·
· (mod_php) Apache module
· or any other supported SQL database server

NOTE: Smeego supports MySQL, SQLite, mSQL, PostgreSQL, PostgreSQL_local, ODBC, ODBC_Adabas, Sybase and Interbase servers.

Installation Instructions:

Unzip the package into the directory you want to use on you web server, if you're unsure where that is, ask you system administrator.

Point your browser to your site.

The system will show you an error message with a link to the web based installer utility, follow the very easy steps and you're done.

First Run

After installing the system you should have a Super User account.

Go to the administration system and click on "Preferences" and change whatever you want to fit your site info. All the options you need to change are in the Preferences menu.

What's New in This Release:

· The graphic security check function on user login was fixed.
· A reserved word was changed in the Topics module so that the topics list is correctly displayed.
· A JavaScript PNG fix was added for Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6 to correctly render transparency for PNG graphics.
· Missing graphics bars were added for surveys and stats on all themes.
· A bug in the users' personal block display was fixed.
· All administration system graphics and many graphics of the system were changed.
