Hogwash Light BR is an Intrusion Prevention System that can filter packets directly in the layer 2 of the OSI model (so the machine doesn't need even an IP address).
Detection of malicious/anomalous traffic is done by rules based in signatures, and the user can add more rules. It is an efficient and versatile IPS, and it can even be used as bridge to honeypots and honeynets.
Since it doesn't make use of the operating system's TCP/IP stack, it can be "invisible" to network access and attackers.

· New rules were added.
What's New in 1.5 RC1 Development Release:
· The POSIX regex was replaced by Perl regex. Officially, only GNU/Linux is supported now.
· The COPYING file was added and the LICENSE.{en,pt_BR} files removed.
· man/hlbr.8.gz has changed to man/hlbr.8.
· A bug in the Makefile has been fixed: the man page is installed now.
· Makefile.in has been optimized.
· There are small updates and fixes in the man page.
· CHANGELOG.pt_BR and TODO.pt_BR have been removed.
· {CHANGELOG,TODO}.en files have been moved to CHANGELOG and TODO.
· The changelog format was remade.
· There is a new detection test, TCP URI, in testing.
· The README.{en,pt_BR} and TEAM files have been updated.
