Shrook is a next-generation news reader that is not only easy to use, but offers advanced features not available to Mac users anywhere else.
Shrook supports all versions of RSS and Atom.
Access Anywhere
Staying up to date when you're away from your news reader can be hard, but not with Shrook. Set up a free account at shrook.com and you can log in from any web browser. All of your channels will be there, with up-to-date information on what you've read. When you get back to Shrook itself, it'll know what you looked at when you were away.
Synchronization
Use more than one Mac? Set each one to synchronize with shrook.com and they'll all be kept in sync with each other - your channel library and the read status of items (Shrook was the first news reader on any platform to offer this). You don't even have to remember to synchronize before you leave home, since it happens constantly in the background. It's easy to set up, too - just enter the username and password of your shrook.com account on each computer, and Shrook does the rest.
The Freshest News
Shrook's sophisticated Distributed Checking mechanism means you see new items long before users of any other news reader. Simply put, each time one copy of Shrook finds a new item, it tells the central server, which tells all of the other copies, including yours. The average time between an item being posted and appearing in Shrook is just five minutes, all without placing undue burden on publishers. Other programs have you wait up to an hour.
Smart Groups
News readers have the inherent ability to show your data an almost infinite number of ways, yet most limit you to only one or two pre-defined options. Smart Groups let you define almost any combination of rules to pick out the items you want, all updated in real time. Combined with Shrook's flexible interface, they put you back in control. Want to keep a list of unread items 2 to 4 days old containing the word 'mackerel', sorted alphabetically by author? No problem.
No Browser Required
Shrook uses the power of Apple's WebKit technology (the rendering engine behind Safari) to show full web pages without leaving Shrook. This lets you view channels that only provide excerpts in the same way as you browse other channels. You can even expand the web page to fill the window, saving awkward scrolling.
