With BluefishRx ICD-9, you have all the latest code information
at your fingertips with powerful search capabilities, including a
multi-keyword search engine. BluefishRx ICD9 is part of a suite of
applications that includes a full featured prescription writer, CPT
code tool and charge capture application. The various modules of
BluefishRx can be licensed as a bundle or purchased separately.
An essential tool for physicians, BluefishRx ICD-9 is the first
Palm OS code lookup tool to incorporate the entire ICD-9 code set
with the full and short code descriptions. It includes an advanced
multi keyword search tool with a dictionary of over 250,000 indexed
keywords. Keywords are indexed to appropriate codes even if they
are not contained in the actual code description. Keyword
searches are lightning fast, even on older Palm handhelds.
Most code tools available today are little more than e-books of
long lists, and heavily edited descriptions. Such tools are
cumbersome on the handheld and provide little value to the
physician. Bluefish has concentrated its efforts on making the
desired code quick and easy to find via multiple routes. You can
search for codes by:
Drilling down through a proprietary database of ICD-9 Disease
Categories.
Searching by the code number.
Searching by one or more keywords.
The keyword search is what makes this tool so unique and powerful
and will likely be your primary method for finding a code. You no
longer need to search through the various disease categories to
find a code that may be in one of many parts of the category tree.
Entering a keyword will display all possible codes associated with
that keyword. As you enter the letters of a keyword all the
possible words are displayed. Enter only as many letters as
required to view the desired word. Once this word is displayed, tap
on the keyword to view the associated codes. If this doesn't narrow
your search sufficiently then just enter a second, third or more
keywords until you have narrowed your search to one or a handful of
codes to individually view.
Bluefish Rx's ICD-9 keyword search engine enables you to search
by common terms that are not necessarily part of the code
description. For instance searching 'tinea capitis' in Bluefish
ICD-9 yields three possible codes:
110.0 Dermatophytosis of scalp and beard
110.9 Dermatophytosis of unspecified site
704.9 Other alopecia
Most other coding tools would yield no results for a search based
on these words, as they are not contained in the code description.
In order to search for the appropriate code via the disease
categories, you would need to know that the code was found through
the following sequence. Infectious and Parasitic Diseases ->
Mycoses -> Dermatophytosis.

All codes within the ICD-9 set are indexed for searching by
249,863 distinct keywords.
The ICD-9 codes include both the short and full descriptions of

Bluefish ICD-9 2004 and CPT 2003 include the latest code revisions
available. BluefishRx requires 1.5 megabytes free space on your
handheld. Bluefish ICD-9 and CPT 2003 with keyword searching
requires an additional 3.4Mb of space on your handheld. BluefishRx
ICD-9 is sold on a 12 month subscription basis. Your subscription
entitles you to all data and program updates for 12 months. The
