With BluefishRx Writer ICD-9/CPT, you can write prescriptions
and access all the latest code information from your handheld.
BluefishRx is now fully integrated with EpocratesRx. Look up drug
dosing , formularies, check for drug interactions and more, all
while you write prescriptions. The coding tools have powerful
search capabilities, including a multi-keyword search engine.
An essential tool for physicians, BluefishRx ICD-9/CPT is the
first Palm OS code lookup tool to incorporate the entire ICD-9 and
CPT code set with the full and short code descriptions. It includes
an advanced multi keyword search tool with a combined dictionary of
over 530,000 indexed keywords. Keywords are indexed to appropriate
codes even if they are not contained in the actual code
description. Keyword searches are lightning fast, even on older
Palm handhelds.
Most code tools available today are little more than e-books of
long lists, and heavily edited descriptions. Such tools are
cumbersome on the handheld and provide little value to the
physician. Bluefish has concentrated its efforts on making the
desired code quick and easy to find via multiple routes. You can
search for codes by:
Drilling down through a proprietary database of ICD-9 Disease
and CPT Procedure Categories.
Searching by the code number.
Searching by one or more keywords.
The keyword search is what makes this tool so unique and powerful
and will likely be your primary method for finding a code. You no
longer need to search through the various disease categories to
find a code that may be in one of many parts of the category tree.
Entering a keyword will display all possible codes associated with
that keyword. As you enter the letters of a keyword a list of
possible words are displayed. Enter only as many letters as
required to view the desired word. Once this word is displayed, tap
on the keyword to view the associated codes. If this doesn''t
narrow your search sufficiently then just enter a second, third or
more keywords until you have narrowed your search to one or a
handful of codes to individually view.
BluefishRx''s ICD-9/CPT keyword search engine enables you to
search by common terms that are not necessarily part of the code
description. For instance searching ?tinea capitis? in Bluefish
ICD-9 yields three possible codes:
110.0 Dermatophytosis of scalp and beard
110.9 Dermatophytosis of unspecified site
704.9 Other alopecia
Most other coding tools would yield no results for a search based
on these words, as they are not contained in the code description.
In order to search for the appropriate code via the disease
categories, you would need to know that the code was found through
the following sequence. Infectious and Parasitic Diseases ->
Mycoses -> Dermatophytosis.
BluefishRx ICD-9/CPT includes a robust compression tool that
reduces the full ICD-9 and CPT code set, complete with both short
and long descriptions, to a fraction of the size of the original
data.
The indexing architecture on which Bluefish Rx ICD-9/CPT was
built makes the keyword searches instantaneous on even the least
powerful handheld devices, not just the latest arm based devices.

The ICD-9 code set includes 12,987 individual codes as well as
all the E800-E999 and V01-V83 codes.
All codes within the ICD-9 set are indexed for searching by
249,863 distinct keywords.
The ICD-9 codes include both the short and full descriptions of
each individual code.
Bluefish ICD-9 2003 and CPT 2003 include the latest code
revisions available.
The CPT code set includes all modifiers, HCPCS, Temporary Codes
and E&M codes making a total of 13,947 individual codes.
All codes within the CPT set are indexed for searching by
282,460 distinct keywords.
The CPT codes include the medium description as used by the AMA
as well as the full text description of each individual code.
BluefishRx requires 1.5 megabytes free space on your handheld.
Bluefish ICD-9/CPT 2003 with keyword searching requires an
additional 3.4Mb of space on your handheld. This bundle is sold on
a 12 month subscription basis which entitles you to free data and
program updates. The 12 month renewal cost for this bundle is
$129.95.
