This practical clinical reference can be used by nursing

and procedures are listed in alphabetical order by their complete
name, plus the comprehensive, integrated index allows fast searches
by abbreviation, synonym, disease state or condition, organ system,
specimen type, or test classification.

Obtain pertinent clinical, laboratory, dietary, and
therapeutic history of the patient
Understand the interrelationship between various body
systems
Anticipate and allay patient concerns or
anxieties
The intratest section:
Can be used in a quality control assessment by the
nurse
Specifies directions for specimen collection and test
performance
Indicates precautions to be taken by the nurse and
patient
The post-test section provides guidelines
regarding:
Specific monitoring and therapeutic measures that should
be performed after the procedure
Specific instructions for the patient such as when to
resume usual diet, medications, and activity
Special counseling related to test outcomes
Guidelines for age-specific communication, influence of
nutraceuticals on testing, and standard precautions are included as
appendices
