Das Antike Spiel von Leben und Nachleben
Senet ist ein altägyptisches Rennspiel und der
Vorläufer des modernen Backgammon. Es war ein beliebtes Spiel,
zum Vergnügen und als Simulation des Übergangs der Seele
in das ewige Leben der Unterwelt. Viele Darstellungen des Spieles
wurden entdeckt und sind in Museen in der ganzen Welt ausgestellt.
Die älteste bekannte Form dieses Spiels ist auf einer Malerei
im Grab des Hesy (circa 2686-2613 v.Chr.) zu sehen. Einige
Senet-Bretter wurden auch im Grab des Tutanchamun gefunden, wodurch
es im letzten Jahrhundert wieder an Beliebtheit gewann. Die
Häufigkeit dieser Funde bezeugt die Popularität des
Spieles zu seinen Zeiten. Anstatt von Würfeln wurden
Knöchel und später flache Stöckchen benutzt. Das
Spielbrett selbst war oft einem schatullenähnlichem
Kästchen aufgesetzt das Schubladen für die Spielsteine
und eine kleine Würfelfläche besaß. Komplette
Regeln für das Spiel sind bis heute nicht gefunden worden,
aber es gibt mehrere Rekonstruktionen; namentlich die von Kendall
und Bell.
Durch Symbologie bezieht sich Senet stark auf das
Nachleben, wie es aus der Sicht eines Ägypters der Antike
gesehen werden mochte. Die Quadrate 16, 26, 27, 28, 29 und 30
werden Häuser genannt und so das Haus der Wiedergeburt, des
Glückes, des Wassers, der drei Wahrheiten, des Re Atoun und
des Horus. Sollte eine Spielfigur den Sprung über das Haus des
Wassers nicht schaffen wird sie zurück auf das Haus der
Wiedergeburt oder das erste freie Feld davor gesetzt. Das gleiche
passiert, wenn eine Figur auf den letzten drei Feldern des
Spielbretts geschlagen wird. Auf diese Weise wird auf Reinkarnation
und die Reise der Toten angespielt. Dieses ist die erste Umsetzung
des Spieles für den Palm. Senet Deluxe ist die einzige Version
dieses Strategiespiels für Palm OS.
Senet Deluxe liefert einen intelligenten Gegner, animierte
Spielzüge, Hervorhebung möglicher Züge, Statistiken
und Online-Hilfe. Es wurde speziell für Palm OS 5
optimiert.
Die Online Hilfe führt schnell in das Spiel ein,
detailliertere Informationen liefert das mitgelieferte
PDF-Handbuch. Während das Spiel auf den ersten Blick sehr
einfach erscheint, beinhaltet es doch zahlreiche sehr kniffelige
strategische Entscheidungen.
