Description:
VeriChat is an always-on, unified Instant Messaging (IM)
application for PalmOS devices. On a smartphone, such as a Treo
600, VeriChat works with your persistent (GPRS/CDMA 1xRTT) or CSD
wireless data connection to give you an always-on presence on the
Yahoo! and MSN chat networks. Your buddies always see you as online
and can send you messages, even when your device is in standby
mode, and you can receive and reply to these messages.
On a non-phone PDA, such as a Tungsten C with its WiFi connection,
you can use VeriChat whenever you have a network connection, or you
can use it in always-on mode in conjunction with your mobile
phone.
VeriChat supports the following usage styles.
Support for always-on mode using data (GPRS/1xRTT) or
SMS: You canstay always-on with or without using SMS. If you
choose the "Data" method, a persistent background connection back
to the VeriChat IM server(s) is maintained to implement
"always-on".
Support for auto-login/logout: You can pick the time(s)
of the day you want to be available on the IM networks, and
VeriChat will log you on and off as appropriate, automatically.
Support for non always-on mode of opeartion: You wish to
use VeriChat as a traditional non always-on, PalmOS IM application?
No problem? VeriChat 2 will allow you to configure things so that
you get signed off from the IM networks when you exit the VeriChat
application, or when your display shuts off.
Let's take a mini tour of the main features of VeriChat
The overall chat experience with VeriChat is unparalleled, with
colors and graphics and other mobile specific enahancements like
pre-defined messages, buddy pounces, and auto-response
messages.
VeriChat is designed to work in the background; you do not have
to be in VeriChat while chatting. You can be logged onto Yahoo and
MSN, and can be chatting with your buddies on these networks
simultaneously, while surfing the web, editing a word document or
using any other application.
With VeriChat, you can now instantly exchange files with any of
your buddies over IM. Swap pictures, appointments, address book
entries, Word and Excel documents, ringtones, voice memo messages,
etc. with your friends who may be on a PC or on another PDA.
VeriChat implements a standard PalmOS object exchange library,
which means any application that supports the send command can use
VeriChat to exchange stuff over IM. You can use a application of
the appropriate type to view a received file, or you can save the
file to a memory card. Who needs PictureMail or MMS now?
VeriChat will notify you automatically when a updated version
is available, and you can download the new version over-the-air,
without having to go to this web page or that and download, and
all updates are free!
