Peak Programme Meter is an aid used by a number of video editors to help them keep the audio levels of the programs they are editing within industry set standards.

Peak Programme Meter helps video editors to keep the audio levels of the programs they are editing within industry set standards.
Peak Programme Meter offers an indication of the individual channels of a stereo signal and the mono sum and difference of those signals. The meter emulates the response of the BBC standard PPM including attack rate, decay rate and hold time.
In addition, the overload indicators to the top right of each pane light up and slowly decay when either of the needles for that pane exceeds a threshold that is preset by the user. This enable a clear visual indication that the signal level is too high.
Because the meter is being used in a digital system, a further 'Clipped' indicator appears if the left or right channel is clipped by the analogue to digital conversion, indicating that the signal will be distorted.
