The innovative Fractal Tune Smithy is a music generator and microtonal composition tuning tool that allows you to create music as intricate as snowflakes - effortlessly - vary the parameters for the fractal music, and just see what happens.
Try out an incredible range of tunings designed for music from the great musical traditions of the world (Gamelan, Indian, African, Thai, Japanese), tunings from past times (Baroque, medieval etc), innovative tunings by modern scale designers, and musical geometries.
You may also play in any tuning directly from your music keyboard. Choose your tuning from the huge range in the drop lists - and just play.
Use your PC keyboard and mouse as musical instruments to play in any tuning - amongst its many options, includes a mouse "theremin" and your PC keyboard can turn into a musical "Janko style" hexagonal lattice explorer more
Other features:
-Transcribe bird song or microtonal solo lines - to midi - and play the result
-Play chord progressions in any tuning - paste or type any chord progression into the player and hear it immediately
-Compose directly or retune your microtonal music compositions in other music notation software to any tuning you like
-Use the metronome and polyrhythm metronome to practice any rhythms including compound rhythm, complex polyrhythms (such as you get in African drumming for instance) and long bars (hypermeasures)
-Use the Lambdoma matrix for music therapy - this is a tonal matrix that dates back to Pythagorous, updated for use for music therapy in our time by Barbara Hero.
