This little stay-on-top application is a handy tool for the helpdesk verifying that computers and other equipment are connected and online. Desktop Pinger does not require installation and is completely free.
Test anything that replies on a ping (ICMP) with this simple yet very handy tool for the helpdesk and online gaming, verifying that computers and other equipment are connected and online. Desktop Pinger does not require installation, just copy it to a suitable folder and start using it right away.
Using it is very easy: "You can enter an IP Address or a name inside the purple field and hit return or click on the bell. The pinger will first check if it is a valid IP address and just ping it, if not the pinger will try to find the name/IP pair in the list. If the name doesn't exist in the list, the pinger will try to resolve it from DNS. Desktop Pinger generates a text file named DeskPing.txt if possible. This file contains a list with the IP/name pairs. You can edit it with notepad if you want. Just make sure that Desktop Pinger is closed first. Desktop Pinger save the list on exit and will therefore override any changes made while it is running."
