'RamSmash' is a system utility that allows you to maintain and
manage your computer's memory.
In fact, there's very little you have to do. The application is
doing everything for you. You just sit back and relax. If the level
of free RAM is too low, you can press Ctrl+Alt+F and the
application will start freeing more RAM.
The interface is simple and customizable, which makes the program
very easy-to-use. The only settings that you can change are the
'Amount of memory to maintain' and the 'Amount of memory to
free', which you have to specify in Megabytes. You can also make
the program start with Windows and allow the system tray icon to be
animated. The colors of the status window can also be changed. You
have plenty of options there, but the default profile should do
just fine.
Pluses: This application maintains your RAM memory very
well. This version of the program features changed graphics and
icon software that supports Windows Vista's higher resolution
capabilities.
Drawbacks / flaws: A little bit expensive for its purposes.
I tested free applications that can do the same thing. You can
launch more than one instance of the application.
In conclusion: This is a stable application that does what
the producer said. If you want, you can also try a free application
(RAM Defrag 2), which does the same thing. However, if you want to
put your money to good use, then you should purchase a full
management suite, which has a built-in memory management module,
like System Mechanic Professional. You may also try the cheaper,
but with less features System Mechanic suite.
