Index Files Search Words description
Indexes a set of files on CD or hard disk so they can be searched
for keywords.
The Index Files Search Words application was designed for indexing
and searching HTML files, text files or files of a similar kind
(such as XML files) in a hierarchy of files either on CD, a hard
disk or some similar storage medium (not files on an online
website).
This software does not simply create a list of files or simply
search for character strings in a file. It indexes every word in
every file, and any file containing a particular set of words (or
any of those words, or an exact phrase) can be found by searching
for those words.
This software consists of two modules:
· An index module which is used to create an index of
the files to be searched.
· A search module which is used to search those
files.
The index module is capable of indexing a hierarchy of over
1000 HTML files, totalling over 20 MB, and containing over 50,000
different words. Even with that number of different words the
search module returns results in a few seconds. The results are
displayed by the software and can also be displayed in a page in
your default web browser, with links to the files containing the
words searched for.
Requirements:
· A video resolution of 800x600 or preferably
better.
Limitations:
· The trial version is the same as the fully-functional
version except that files to be indexed must each be less than 120
KB in size, the total size of the files must be less than 600 KB,
and the number of search results is limited. After twenty program
starts or thirty days, whichever comes first, it enters a more
limited 'demo mode' which does no indexing.
