Symantec Norton Ghost
Reviews and Tests
Norton Ghost is the famous backup and recovery tool from Symantec, designed to protect all the data on your computer.
Already at its 14th version, this tool is providing probably the most reliable and powerful backup and recovery solution for your computer. Creating full system and file backups, restoring from system failures or saving recovery points to offsite locations are just three of the many features and technologies this utility includes.
The simple, well-organized and easy-to-use interface will provide quick access to any of the program’s features and functionalities.
Norton Ghost can back up everything on a hard drive or partition as well as create a full system backup (disk image). But if you want to back up only some specific files or folders and not an entire drive, it can be done too.
Copying recovery points to a FTP site for easier offsite backup management and backing up your files to NAS (Network-Attached Storage) devices are some new protection features from Norton Ghost, that uses the advantage of offsite methods as additional security solutions.
The integration of the Symantec ThreatCon is a great option especially for the computers without antivirus protection. The ThreatCon will monitor the system’s level of security and when it detects a certain high level of potential threat it will trigger automatic backups.
Incremental and differential backup is also featured, this way Norton Ghost can back up only the files that have changed.
Remote management is also supported, allowing to control the program on your LAN.
The advanced compression and encryption technologies used by Norton Ghost will help you keep the storage space minimized and the sensitive documents safe.
