King Solomon Web is a powerful tool that allows you to put hierarchy and index on a generic web, UNICODE-wise
To understand KSW, think of the Help window of an application. The help topics are categorized, an index is usually available, you can perform searches. KSW does all these too, but for a web site and its pages (full featured, UNICODE site search is coming up as a free upgrade soon).
KSW works in conjunction with any web page editor; just use the page editor of your choice (example: FrontPage).
Install both KSW and the page editor on the same machine. Use the page editor to create web pages as HTML files (KSW also accepts Word documents and PDF files that are part of your web). Also, use the page editor to publish your web. In short, create/edit topics in the page editor; create/edit the hierarchy and the index in KSW; publish web using your page editor.
Note. It is safe to keep one tool closed when working with the other, since both act on the same web on disk. However, you may keep the page editor open while in KSW; then you can easily publish after closing KSW.
With today's technology, creating a web page is not much different from creating a document in Word. Now KSW requires no programming as well. That takes the absurd requirement of programming connaissance out of the way, and anyone, not just programmers, can publish a web that is organized and navigable. In fact, we are programmers, and still use KSW all the time. That's because writing code every time you reorganize a web is simply too much work - now there is KSW.
The local/working project of your site resides in two important locations: the web on disk, and the KSW project.
When you need to edit the hierarchy or the index, open the KSW project. KSW has maximum automation built-in; it will find changes in topics you performed on the local web and adjust the hierarchy/index accordingly. You can then do any additional editing on the hierarchy and the index manually (drag things around in KSW).
Whenever you save your work, files are generated and written to a separate ksw subfolder under the root folder of the web. KSW never writes anything anywhere else. You will host your topics in the root folder, making it easier to manage them in the editor. Categorizing topics at web/editor level is not needed, since KSW takes over this task entirely.
Note: Hosting all topics at root level is a requirement.
On installation, KSW creates a Projects folder. To locate it, go to the common application data folder on your system, and then to the Anasoftware\King Solomon Web\Projects folder. All KSW projects are located in the Projects folder, in subfolders by their project name. The local/working web should be created elsewhere, maybe together with your other webs.
Anywhere inside the application, you'll find a 'Context Help' expandable panel in the top-right corner. Click it for help/tips/quick info on the current window, dialog, or tab. Especially, check Context Help at any location that is visited for the first time. As usual, see the help file (F1) for all details.
