Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Is Available For Free Download

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 was released today after the successful presence of the free beta version. It allows Windows users to perform data management directly from the desktop enabling any type of data storage directly in a database.

The various operations like database queries, synchronization and more can be effectuated even from mobile devices independently of the data storage location.

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 is the result of collaboration between Dell and Microsoft. Rick Becker, the vice president of Dell Software & Solutions stated:”As Microsoft’s largest partner for the last three years and counting, we have worked to help early stage adopters deploy SQL Server 2008 in their environments.With the release to manufacture of SQL Server 2008 today, we look forward to providing an even broader range of customers with a robust platform for managing their data.”

SQL Server 2008 also allows the management of data through applications developed with Visual Studio and based on Microsoft.NET. It provides the following main features: enhanced security with the help of transparent data encryption, data auditing and key management, the possibility of using C# or VB.NET programming language (and not SQL queries) when database queries are performed and other new features.

SQL Server 2008 Release Candidate 0 and SQL Server 2008 Express (RC0) or Express Advanced (RC0), as well as SQL Server 2008 Feature Pack are available for free download from Microsoft website.
