Trick Your Friends Into Shutting Down Their Windows
There are quite many ways to shut down a Windows based system. Clicking the “Start” button, followed by clicking the “Turn Off Computer” button, then the “Turn Off” button is probably the most popular. But there are other ways, less known to the average Windows user. Such as pressing the Windows key (the one on the left, between the left Ctrl and Alt keys) and then pressing twice the “U” key. As far as I know, this won’t work on Windows Vista, but it should work on Windows XP or sooner.
Guess what will it happen if you tell a friend that if he/she presses the “Windows” key and then twice the “U” key he/she will be able to… change the colour of the “Start” button? Maybe that friend will be glad that he/she’s finally able to change the colour of that boring “Start” button. But instead of doing that, he or she will find one more reason to hate you for your sadistic jokes. But hey… you won again. If you think that changing the colour of the “Start” button is not a good enough reason to make one wish to press this key combination, feel free to find any other fictional story. Such as… “press these keys in this order and you’ll see a picture of [insert name of hot, sexy actress here] naked”…
Instead of pressing the “windows” key, clicking once the “Start” button and then pressing twice, sequentially, the U key, will lead to the same thing.
Anyway, knowing that by pressing sequentially the Windows key, then twice the U key might help you in specific situations, such as when your mouse got broken. Pressing Ctrl + Esc will open the Start menu, just as pressing the “Windows” key does.
Another way is to press the Alt + F4 combination that will firstly close your opened windows and applications, and finally your whole system.
Opening the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and selecting the Shut Down menu, either by using the mouse, or by pressing Alt, followed by pressing U twice, is another way of shutting down your Windows XP -based system.
