Some Little, Nice, Freeware Tools You May Never Know When You’ll Need
This time I won’t speak about a single freeware program that rocks, but about 13 of them. All of them are created by Bluefive Software (which is actually a single guy - David De Groot. Congratulations to him for the great job he did with these utilities).
All of these tools are really simple, small and can prove to be very useful in many situations. You may also view the reviews for these programs, next to their Flash video presentations, antivirus reports, screenshots and more, on Downloadtube too.
The first one I’ve found, the one that lead me to Bluefive Software’s website, is the TXTcollector. TXTcollector is a simple little tool that grabs all the .txt files from the directory of your choice and combine them into a new, larger, text file. You may combine network log files, backup logs, various reports in text formats, etc. TXTcollector does not allow you to select only .txt files, but also .csv, .reg, .log, .ini, .inf and .htm files.
Another great tool is the PIXresizer. This smart photo resizing program allows you to quickly resize one single image file or a selection of multiple image files to be used on the web or in e-mails. PIXresizer is truly a great companion for webmasters or digital photographers. PIXresizer also includes several different resizing methods to choose from and can automatically recognize the image sizes to calculate the best fit. In addition, this great utility can convert between various image formats such as JPEG, GIF, BMP, PNG and TIFF, rotate images, convert to grayscale and resize multiple images in batch mode.
What about a free temperature conversion tool? TempLAB is a tiny tool that will simultaneously show the Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin degrees with just one push on the slider.
Quite impressive is also FontPage - a smart, feature-rich and yet easy to use freeware that lets you examine and compare all of the fonts on your system and beyond.
A simple to use yet surprisingly powerful screen capture tool with some really nice extra features such as multiple monitors support or saving to various graphic formats (JPEG, PNG, GIF, etc.) is also available. SnapShot is its name.
Recase is a tiny, simple, handy folder and filename case-conversion tool. Lodger - a simple reminder. InTime - a reliable time synchronizer for your system time.
An advanced HTML-colorpicker, an ASCII to HEX and HEX to ASCII Converter, an alarm clock, a “magnifying glass” for your screen and a simple tool that allows you to quickly retrieve your IP address and copy it to another application or document are also available.
