Automatic Installation of Joomla! on Windows With JoomlaPC
A convenient alternative for the development or testing of Joomla! based websites is an installation of this PHP/MySQL application on a localhost. The manual installation of Joomla! requires the presence of a PHP enabled web server, as well as a MySQL server. The manual installation process could be difficult for beginners that only want to test Joomla!. Depending on your operating system, there are many options to choose from in order to automate Joomla! installation.
In case of Windows operating system, JoomlaPC standalone server allows the automatic installation of Joomla!. After you extract the content of distribution archive and execute the Run Joomla! MS-DOS Batch File, JoomlaPC will create a virtual drive W: which plays the role of a public_html folder. In this way, the users will have access to Joomla! directory locally, without being the need to perform files uploads.
After the launching of Run Joomla! MS-DOS Batch File, a web browser window will automatically open showing the front-end of Joomla! application. Joomla! administration panel can be accessed from the following local URL: http://localhost/Joomla/administrator. The default administrator username and password are admin and respectively admin.
JoomlaPC has two control panels: one can be found in the System Tray Menu and the other one at the local URL: http://localhost/apanel. The users will be able to access various server configuration settings (the server used is Uniform Server - a WAMP package compatible with Windows operating system), PHP settings, MySQL server settings, virtual hosts configuration options, phpMyAdmin and more.
JoomlaPC also provides an useful free tool to backup MySQL databases, phpMyBackupPro. The default language for the server administration panel is english, but the interface could also be translated in any other language. There is also the possibility to run Perl or PHP scripts in command line mode, based on Uniform Server functionality.
