Java Runtime Environment Will Be Distributed With MSN Toolbar
The U.S. Internet Explorer users will be able to download MSN Toolbar which is powered by Microsoft Live Search alongside Java Runtime Environment (JRE) due to the search distribution deal made between Microsoft Corporation and Sun Microsystems Inc. MSN Toolbar provides users rapid access to the Live Search features, news, Live Hotmail, Windows Live Messenger and more.
Yusuf Mehdi, senior vice president of the Microsoft Online Audience Business stated: “This agreement with Sun Microsystems is another important milestone in our strategy to secure broad-scale distribution for our search offering, enabling millions more people to experience the benefits of Live Search. With the vast array of Java software-based Web applications that are downloaded every month, this deal will expose Live Search to millions more Internet users and drive increased volume for our search advertisers.”
There are over 6 millions Java applications developers and as a consequence, Java Runtime Environment was downloaded for tens of millions times, being present on 91% of computers connected to Internet (the number of Java desktop users is estimated to be over 800 millions).
