Rapid Publishing of Articles in A Joomla! Blog
Joomla! content management system has built in the capability to display articles in a blog like fashion. The default Joomla! installation does not have enabled the blogging functionality, but only a few simple steps are required to setup a blog only in a few minutes.
If you want to test the Joomla! Blogging functionality on a local computer, first the content management system must be installed on a PHP enabled web server (also a MySQL database with must be available). A short tutorial regarding the Joomla! installation on a personal computer having Windows operating system is presented here.
After a successful login into the administration area, from Menu Manager a new entry for the blog layout in the Main Menu must be defined (for example, you can call it Blog). Then, from the Section Manager the section corresponding to the blog must be added. Associated to this section the desired articles categories can be created from Category Manager area.
The articles can be displayed in blog with introductory text or full width, one on a row or by modifying the Blog menu entry parameters, a certain number of columns can be implemented in every row to show more than one item in a row. Other parameters can also be changed from their default state, such as pagination options, articles order, the presence of feed link and more.
In order to write a new blog post, from Content / Article Manager menu, the user must select the New Article option. In the browser window corresponding to the article editing area, the blog section must be chosen, as well as the desired category from the appropriate drop-down list.
If you want to enhance the blog appearance or functionality, in Joomla! extensions directory there are available many free to download modules or plugins that could help in changing of the default blog state.
