LittleShoot Changes The Sense of Peer-To-Peer Concept

LittleShoot is a new peer-to-peer application built on a platform that includes only open standards and provides an unique modality of file sharing, searching and publishing through a web browser window. There are many differences between classical peer-to-peer concept and LittleShoot, which is based on a new model.

LittleShoot P2P 2.0 Plugin, available for free download, ensures the user access to various files types like video, audio, documents and more directly in the web browser with the help of a web based peer-to-peer service, as compared with other P2P (peer-to-peer) systems.

The search is performed in a centralized manner on the LittleShot network. The results are displayed faster than in the case of a distributed search. The files search and display mechanism speed is also enhanced by the caching feature of the plugin, which facilitates the browser access to previous search results stored on the computer, eliminating the need of a new query execution.

Beside the information existing on the LittleShot network, the service also searches other content sources like Flickr, LimeWare, Yahoo and YouTube. The files are searched based on tags and their names.

The streaming feature of LittleShoot provides users instant access to the requested information, such as videos, photos or documents by opening them in the web browser.

The files sharing takes place without the need of an upload operation because the user computer is the file source. In this way, a certain file is immediately available and the publishing action (the files are not stored on a web server) is safe and anonymous.

This peer-to-peer service could mark a new period of evolution in the implementation of peer-to-peer concept over the Internet. It’s a browser based LimeWire and sounds quite unstable and could be up for a lot of hackers’ exploitation.

But it IS a “next-step” in P2P networks…
