The users of Skype for Windows Mobile phones are able to upgrade the current version of the application to the latest one, 2.5 Beta. It is available for free download for Pocket PC and Smartphone.

The new Skype 2.5 Beta version for Windows Mobile enabled devices provides an improved sound quality, an increased stability and the familiar Skype design, similar to the version designed for Windows desktop computers. The features implemented into Skype 2.5 Beta for Windows Mobile allows users to make free Skype-to-Skype calls, as well as sending and receiving of instant messages by logging into Skype from any Wi-Fi area.

Users are also able to performs calls to landlines or mobiles directly from their Windows Mobile phone, without being needed to be worried about the calling costs if a Pay As You go credit or a monthly subscription plan exists.

Skype 2.5 Beta for Windows Mobile can be downloaded directly into a Pocket PC or Smartphone device, having installed Windows Mobile Standard or Professional and a minimum of free space of 12 MB. The installer is capable to perform the automatic upgrade from an older version.

As an alternative, Skype 2.5 Beta could be downloaded first into the PC and then transferred into the mobile device with the help of an USB cable or a BlueTooth, in order to save the data transfer bandwidth in case of the mobile Internet connection, if an unlimited traffic plan is not available (the file size of the executable is approximately 5 MB).
