Facebook Connect helps developers to add to any website social networking features which allows to the existing Facebook users to login, post comments and share content with their friends. Among the most popular websites which already enabled certain features offered by Facebook Connect, like CNET website for example, Lifehacker recently also introduced this facility to simplify the comments posting process.
Without being forced to create a new Lifehacker account, a Facebook user will just have to provide its email and password in order to login to the Lifehacker website and add comments to the existing articles. The stories published on Lifehacker will be easily shared on the Facebook wall.
Users will be able to post comments on Lifehacker after they provide a valid email and password associated with their Facebook account. In the same time the online story will be published on the Facebook user wall.
Regarding the information quality, there are strict requirements to publish new comments on Lifehacker website and as a consequence the user must be objective in its opinion, remove self-promoting messages from the comments content and more.
In essence, Facebook Connect marks a new evolution of Facebook Platform by allowing developers to integrate many of its feature into any existing website or application. The basic implementation of Facebook Connect to a commenting system supposes the addition of a button into a form, initialization of a remote JavaScript and the editing of a line of code. The entire procedure is explained in detail in the next movie.
