Open PDF Files Attachments Directly In GMail
GMail service provides a new feature to its users: the possibility to view PDF files attached to a message direclty into the web browser, without the need of a third party PDF viewer. This modality of viewing PDF files is an efficient alternative for the desktop based software for PDF reading.
Instead of downloading the PDF file into the computer hard drive in order to be opened locally with an appropriate application, like Foxit Reader for example, the GMail user can see the PDF file content by clicking the View link situated under the email message attachment name.
The PDF viewer associated with GMail web based service will display the complete PDF document with graphics and text, but the HTML version of the file can also be viewed if the user access the link situated at the top of the main current page. The document is easy to navigate by switching between the views options (one page or thumbnails pages views).
GMail still allows the downloading of the PDF file attached to a certain email in order to be viewed with a desktop based PDF reader.
This new GMail feature will make easier the access to large PDF attachments online and despite of the fact that the viewer is web based, the page rendering speed is very high in case of PDF documents having an increased file size.
