Get The Latest Security Updates For Mozilla Firefox And Internet Explorer
Critical security updates were released for both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer web browsers. In case of Internet Explorer browser, the MS08-078 security update solves the vulnerability found in versions 5.01, 6, 6 Service Pack 1, 7 and 8 beta 2. In the same time, Mozilla Firefox 3.0.5 and 2.0.0.19 were released for Windows, Mac OS and Linux operating systems. They contain various updates that solve security and stability issues present in the previous versions.
The release of Firefox 2.0.0.19 is the last one from the 2.x series, Mozilla Corporation announcing the end of support for Firefox 2.x. Further updates will no longer be available for 2.x browser versions, the users being encouraged to upgrade to the latest 3.x stable version (the browser settings and bookmarks will not be changed during the upgrade process).
The Pishing Protection service for Firefox 2 users was disabled, while for version 3 is still active and ensures a high level of security through the protection against various types of attacks.
In Firefox 3.0.5 several critical security issues were patched: XSS vulnerabilities in SessionStore , XSS and JavaScript privilege escalation and the crashes with evidence of memory corruption. These vulnerabilities would allow an attacker to run code or install certain software without the user accept.
Firefox users will get an automatic notification of the existing of these updates. Also, they can be installed by selecting the Check for Updates entry in the browser Help menu. By installing the latest updates both Internet Explorer, as well as Firefox users will be able to browse the web safer, having an increased protection against the current security threats.
