Easy Creation And Management Of Virtual Desktops In Windows XP With WindowsPager
Virtual desktops allows users to organize their computer activities in an efficient manner. The necessary tools to enjoy this feature is not included by default in many of the commonly used operating systems, like Windows XP for example. But with the help of external software, virtual desktops can be enabled and managed with a minimal effort.
WindowsPager is a free application compatible with Windows 2000, XP and Vista that permits users to create virtual workspaces or desktops and switch between them only with a few mouse clicks. This software does not consume a high amount of RAM or hard disk space (the executable file has only 115 KB) and does not even require an installation before usage.
In the WindowsPager distribution archive, there is a folder called exe and inside it, the user will find windowspager.exe executable file, which will generate by default four virtual desktops. Practically, an unlimited number of virtual workspaces can be created with WindowsPager.
First, a shortcut to the windowspager.exe must be manually made and then, by selecting from context menu Properties option, in the Target field the number of rows and columns containing the virtual desktops must be specified in order to obtain a custom configuration as compared with the default one, like in the next example (C:\downloadtube\downloadtube\windowspager-0.39experimental\windowspager-0.39experimental\exe\windowspager.exe 1×2):
WindowsPager allows users to move windows between the virtual desktops from the context menu or by drag and drop actions. The current desktop can be set with the help of the mouse or by using keyboard shortcuts.
