Adobe Flash Platform will be integrated into Broadcom digital television and set-top box system-on-a-chip (SoC) platforms. Adobe Flash Lite 3 software is supported in Broadcom BCM3549, BCM3556, BCM7400 and BCM7405 SoC, offering the possibility to display on TV web content made with Flash.

In case of BCM7405 and BCM3549, the support for Adobe Flash based movies and applications will be demonstrated by Broadcom at 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show.

Regarding the benefits of the collaboration between Adobe Systems Incorporated and Broadcom Corporation, which practically adds important steps in the transition to HD (High Definition) Flash based video on TV, David Wadhwani, general manager and vice president of Platform Business Unit at Adobe, stated:”Consumers want to experience rich and consistent applications and Web content across devices and screens.

Broadcom’s leadership in designing highly integrated and advanced TV and STB platforms provides an ideal stage for the over one million Flash developers to showcase their content. We look forward to our continued efforts with Broadcom to broaden the availability of great multi-screen experiences.”

While Adobe Flash is a very popular technology among Internet users, Broadcom is a leader in the set-top box market, as well as digital TV business and as a consequence, the Internet experience of viewing online Flash video content, made more intuitive through digital TV, could have the highest possible quality. Broadcom platforms having support for Adobe Flash will be available in the first half of 2009.
