Picasa for Mac (Beta ) Is Ready For Free Download
During the year 2008, a few announcements were made about a possible release of Picasa for Mac before 2009, but this long waited apparition was ended on 5 January 2009, when Google announced the availability of the popular photo management software Picasa for Mac OS X users.
Until now, Picasa was released only for Windows and Linux operating systems, being an useful free application that allows users to manage their photos from one place, edit and process digital images, create slideshows and more.
Picasa works with Picasa Web Albums Google service, making easy for anyone to publish online and share image collections or albums (Picasa Web Albums provides 1 GB of free storage, which could be enough for hundreds of images of high quality).
Picasa for Mac permits users to handle the iPhoto library files as read only, while certain actions are not available, like synchronization with Picasa Web Albums or image processing operations.
As compared with Windows version, Picasa for Mac (beta) does not still have various features such as Geotag, Shop/Order prints, Integrated webcam capture, Automatic screen capture, Export as HTML page, Screensaver and Picasa Photo Viewer. According to Google Mac Blog, the Picasa application interface will suffer minor modifications in order to have a better integrability into Mac OS X.
