The Precursor of Google Chrome 2.0
In December 2008, the stable version of Google Chrome web browser 1.0 final version was released. Recently, a new version available for free download was developed: 2.0 Pre-Beta (2.0.156.1). It is clear that the increased frequency of the releases of Google Chrome browser suggest the Google intention of making it more popular while always offers significant new features to keep up with the web browsers market trends. Besides bug fixes, there are many notable enhancements introduced in this version, like form autocomplete, full page zoom, spell checking improvements, autoscroll, docking dragged tabs, Google Bookmarks importer, browser profiles and more.
Now, the web pages are rendered with the help of the latest version of WebKit, which provides additional CSS handling features: CSS gradients, canvas drawing, reflections and masks. In the same time, the V8 Javascript engine was updated to version 0.4.6.0 and support for user-scripts was added.
Google Chrome 2.0 Pre-Beta has a new HTTP network protocol, as compared with the one based on WinHTTP library existing in the current stable version of the browser in order to implement a code compatible with Mac OS and Linux. Even more, the HTTPS-only browsing mode allows users to load only HTTPS web sites.
Google Chrome 2.0 Pre-Beta can be downloaded by using the Developer Preview Channel after you install Google Chrome Channel Changer.
Is good to know that the Developer Preview Channel releases has experimental features which require manual configuration. In case you want to switch back to a more stable channel, is recommended to perform a backup of the profile before installing the new Google Chrome 2.0 Pre-Beta version.
