Play Games Based On Stereoscopic 3D Technology: NVIDIA 3D Vision for GeForce
At Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2009, NVIDIA Corporation has announced the availability of NVIDIA 3D Vision for GeForce, a device that provides the benefits of stereoscopic 3D technology. The device is formed by wireless glasses, an IR emitter and is controlled by a software having the capability to transform a wide range of PC games into a new stereoscopic 3D experience: the depth of the content viewed will be perceived in a similar manner as in the reality.
NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision works with Samsung and ViewSonic 20 Hz LCD monitors, 100 Hz and higher analog CRTs, Mitsubishi DLP HDTV and DepthQ HD 3D Projector. In the same time 3D movies or photos can be viewed clearly with a crystal like clarity (flicker-free).
Regarding the new gaming experience introduced by NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision, Ujesh Desai, vice president of GeForce desktop business at NVIDIA stated: “ For gamers, 3D Vision for GeForce represents a whole different way of experiencing the game, and for developers, it unlocks the potential of making the game literally pop off the screen. From games to movies to photography, 3D Vision delivers a truly immersive awesome 3D experience.”
The wireless active shutter glasses represent a lightweight alternative to traditional 3D glasses, providing a resolution of 2X per eye and ultra-wide viewing angles, beside the free range of motion and up to 20 feet wireless active signal for 3D viewing.
The support for 3D images viewing and movies playback is given through a free 3D Vision viewer, which permits the visualization of games screenshots or other types of digital images and video files with the help of stereoscopic 3D technology.
The minimum system requirements are: Microsoft Windows Vista 32-bit or 64-bit, Intel Core2 Duo or AMD Athlon X2 CPU or higher, 1GB of system memory (2GB is recommended), 100 MB free disk space and a compatible NVIDIA GeForce GPU (GTX 200, 8 and 9 series). GeForce 3D Vision Kit is available for buying starting from $199 from the official website.
