Ubiquity Changes The Natural Sense Of Web Browsing
Ubiquity is a Firefox add-on that allows you to simplify the web browsing actions by eliminating the need to type an URL in the web browser address bar. The Internet navigation with Ubiquity is based on commands that include common locations and tasks followed by certain keywords or key phrases. For example, corresponding to a search on Google about downloadtube, the command is google downloadtube, when the user will get a preview of the search results and if the enter key is pressed, the results are displayed in a web browser tab.
If it is installed and enabled, by pressing CTRL and SPACE simultaneously on your keyboard (Windows only, for Mac: OPTION+SPACE and for Linux: ALT+SPACE), Ubiquity user interface will appear. You can customize the default commands (get more from Ubiquity Herd) or develop new ones easily.
The available commands can be viewed by typing command-list and pressing the Enter key. By default there are defined various types of commands associated to certain actions, such as email sending, text translation, specific website browsing or querying and more.
Starting from the version 0.1.5, the user has the possibility to change the default skin or to create a new one based on a custom CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) code. In the same time the Ubiquity speed and stability is improved and it also has the capability to remember users commands.
Ubiquity can be downloaded from the Mozilla Official Website, or if you already have installed it, the update process will be performed automatically. The Ubiquity version 0.2 beta is also available for free download.
