Western Digital Unveils The First 2 TB Hard Drive From WD Caviar Green Family
The world’s first hard drive having a storage capacity of 2TB is available from Western Digital. It makes part of WD Caviar Green hard drive family and is built on a 3.5 inch platform based on Western Digital 500 GB/platter technology with 32 MB cache.
These drives were designed to be used into USB/FireWire/eSATA external hard drives, desktop computers, workstations or desktop RAID environments. The WD Caviar Green 2TB hard drive is environmental friendly and provides a reliable storage medium for important files.
Regarding the low power consumption for the storage capacity available into WD Caviar Green drives, Jim Morris, WD senior vice president and general manager of client systems stated: “Saving power without sacrificing storage capacity is what consumers want, and what many businesses are requiring today. With the launch of the new WD Caviar Green 2 TB hard drive, customers receive the additional capacities needed to operate today’s highly advanced programs and high-resolution digital files while using less power than typical drives with similar performance and capacities”.
The actual storage capacity, data management speed and overall performance of these hard drives rely on modern technologies, such as StableTrac, IntelliPower, IntelliSeek and NoTouch. The WD Caviar Green 2 TB (model WD20EADS) can be acquired from resellers and distributors starting from the price of $299.
