Over 100 Million Installations Of Adobe AIR
Adobe AIR and Flash 10 Player, two key components of Adobe Flash platform, were installed in record numbers by users world wide. Adobe AIR had over 100 million installations in less than one year after its release, while the Flash 10 Player software installations, being present in more than 55 percent of the computers connected to the Internet. Adobe System Incorporated expects a surpassing of this percent value with over 30% by the second quarter of 2009.
Regarding the global importance of Adobe Flash Platform, Michele Turner, vice president of product marketing for the Platform Business Unit at Adobe stated: “Adobe is the leader in enabling people to express themselves and connect with others globally, through the distribution of our world class client software. The incredible traction we’re seeing with Adobe AIR and Adobe Flash Player 10 in such a short period of time is a clear indication that individuals and organizations across the globe rely on the Adobe Flash Platform for breakthrough interactive content, applications and video on the Web.”
The data reflecting the number of Adobe AIR installations, provided by Adobe System Incorporated is based on the evaluation of the successful installations with the help of a code which notices their validity and sends a confirmation feedback.
Through an “install badge”, there is performed an operation of detection of the AIR runtime existence on the user operating system and if it is not installed, Adobe AIR will be automatically downloaded and installed before the deployment of an AIR based application.
Adobe Flash Platform integrates tools, frameworks, clients and servers suitable for the development of web applications compatible with the most commonly used operating systems.
