Add Your Current Location To Gmail Messages Signature
Gmail service becomes more interactive and rich in features with every new experiment implemented into Gmail Labs. From now on, Gmail service users will be able to enjoy a new feature in Labs section: the possibility of the addition to the email messages signature the current geographical location.
In order to append your current location details to the email messages signature, the “Location In Signature” feature must be enabled in Gmail Labs section, as well as the Signature (which will appear at the end of any message automatically) in the General Settings area of the Gmail account and of course, do not forget to check the checkbox labeled “Append your location to the signature “, which will couple the existing signature text content with the geo-location data.
The principle of functioning of this new Gmail feature is simple: based on the IP address the automatic geographical localization will be performed and the city, region and country names associated to your current position are added to the email signature. The usage of a public IP address will decrease the accuracy of the geographical location related data.
In a recent post on the Official Gmail blog, there is suggested to the users to install the latest version of Gears which supports the location module in order to increase the accuracy of the location data. The newest version of Gears (0.4.24.0) has an enhanced implementation of the Geolocation API. It is capable to use WiFi access point signals that return more accurate results related to your geographical location.
