WordPress 2.7.1 Was Just Released: 68 Bugs Fixes

Another release of the well known blogging platform WordPress is here. This version comes with 68 bugs fixed. You will notice improvements of many WordPress components and their associated functions, such as inline documentation for wp-admin/includes files, tag cloud order priority, emoticons as links in comments, canonical redirect of feeds URL, upgrade or install WordPress 2.7 clean urls defect with magic quotes and other. The main directions where various bugs were fixed are the administration options, RSS feeds management and security leaks elimination through the rebuilding of filters designed to stop XSS attacks.

If you already have installed WordPress 2.7.0 Coltrane, then the process of updating to the newer version of the blog platform can be performed automatically by accessing the Upgrade menu from the Tools section in your Dashboard. In the same time, you are allowed to upgrade your current WordPress version manually by using the application distribution archive (free download WordPress 2.7.1).

In case of a WordPress version earlier than 2.7.0, the automatic update feature is not built-in, but with the help of Wordpress Automatic upgrade plugin this limitation is eliminated.

This maintainance release does not show major changes in WordPress platform features and functionality, as compared with version 2.7.0. This issue underlines the quality and stability of WordPress 2.7.0 version.
