GMail Contacts Have A New Manager
GMail contact manager has changed in order to provide better options for your contacts management. As compared with the previous one, four changes were performed in case of the new contact manager: the contacts merging option, All Contacts menu entry appears instead of Suggested Contacts, the Remove People from My Contacts possibility and Search Across All Contacts Fields function.
If you are already using Google Sync, an application which allows the synchronization of Google Calendar and Google Contacts with the built in Calendar and Address Book of the iPhone, Blackberry and Windows Mobile devices, then the Contact Merge option is a valuable feature because it makes easy to cleanup duplicate entries in the phone Address Book, tough the merging of contacts will affect the address auto-complete by determining the merged email address to appear after the home address for example.
The All Contacts group menu entry will help the user in an easy identification of duplicates email address, making the merging process to be performed faster. This new menu entry replaces Suggested Contacts entry, which is still available by clicking the View Suggestions button in My Contacts panel.
If several contacts must be deleted, this operation can be performed with the new contacts manager easier: just select the desired contacts from My Contacts and clicking the Group button will bring up the Remove From My Contacts option.
Another enhancement added to the contacts manager is the Search Across All Contacts fields function, which allows you to perform searches based on phone numbers, notes fields and more. All these modifications of the Gmail contacts manager will definitely reduce the time needed to organize contacts.
