Free Service To Create SVG Web Fonts Online: Typism
If you do not like to use a desktop application for creating web-based fonts, typism provides an online alternative. It is a web-based fonts maker that allows anyone to build custom SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) fonts with the help of a modern web browser. The access to the typism website is free and the users can define new fonts or edit the existing ones in an Wiki like style.
The author underlined in a few words the major features of the service: “typism is a web-based font editor. It is a public site where anyone can create a font for others to use and to study, to modify and to copy. You write the description of a typeface, design the outlines of a glyph, track the development history and publish any revision in human-readable format to store locally. All it takes to run it is a browser supporting a few open standards.”
Users must have a valid Google account in order to save new fonts or the modifications made to the existing projects. The source code of the font is editable manually from the typism web browser based interface and any modifications performed to a certain font can be also tested online.
In order to be able to use typism to build your own SVG fonts, compatible web browsers must installed, depending on the type of operating system: Google Chrome (Windows), WebKit (Mac OS X) and Firefox latest beta version (Linux). The fonts
