Yahoo! Mobile Service Will Be Launched
In a recent press release, Yahoo! has announced that in the near future will launch the Yahoo! Mobile service, a new point of reference in the Internet exploration with the mobile devices. The service is compatible with Apple iPhone, smartphones (Nokia, RIM, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Motorola) and Windows mobile devices. Yahoo! Mobile service is currently available for testing through a managed beta program.
Regarding the impact of the new service over the users experience during the web browsing with the help of mobile devices, Marco Boerries, executive vice president, Yahoo! Inc. stated: ”We believe the new Yahoo! Mobile will transform the way millions of mobile users around the world will interact with the Internet. Yahoo! Mobile will enable users to create their own Internet starting point on their mobile device so they can better discover, connect to and stay informed about the people and things that are important to them.”
Practically, Yahoo! Mobile service will represent an open environment which bridges various types of web based content: news sources, RSS feeds, weather, stocks or horoscopes. The users will be able to perform web searches based on the Yahoo!’s award-winning mobile search, access email, social networking accounts or any other services.
Yahoo! Mobile service will provide many features, like Yahoo! oneSearch, Yahoo! Messenger, Yahoo! Address Book, Yahoo! News, widgets and many more.
The mobile devices must run compatible web browsers such as WebKit-based browsers, Opera Mini 4.x and Internet Explorer Mobile. The Yahoo! Mobile service is expected to be available for public in the late March 2009.
