Microsoft Linux: A Fake Linux Distribution
While looking for new Linux distributions through the Google Search service, based on the “Linux distro” key phrase, on the first page of results returned for this query, the fourth entry shown the next home page title and description: “Microsoft Linux - the premier linux distro: Learn how you can use Microsoft Linux Technologies to expand your business or your desktop.” Following the link pointing to Microsoft Linux website, apparently, one can be amazed by finding the distribution description, related Linux resources, and what is most important: its price. At first sight, from the description published on MSLinux website, Microsoft Linux seems to be an operating system bringing to the large public new interesting features, like Graphical User Interface command-Line Technology, 28 percent more swap space, faster loading speed for commonly used applications (up to 36 percent) and more.
When I was looking for the Microsoft Linux download link, no one was available and another aspect grabbed my attention:”We are now offering the MS Linux Introductory CD at a special introductory price of only $249.99 (plus shipping and handling), if you order before it ships.”
At this point I was realized that the entire website, as its content is a joke. As we all know, there are a few chances to associate the words Microsoft and Linux to describe an operating system combining both technologies, since these brands are in competition, having different products launched in the operating systems and browser markets.
If you also search for new apparitions of Linux distributions, in order to decide if an officially published one is not a joke, there is one common characteristic that must be present in all cases: the Linux kernel source code is freely available, released under the GNU General Public License. As a consequence, any Linux distribution can be modified or used for free on your computer.
