Instant Messaging On iGoogle
Based on the existing chat related Google gadgets, you can personalize the iGoogle page in order to be able to chat with your friends directly from the web browser. There are many gadgets available for free that allows users to connect to various types of instant messaging services provided by Yahoo!, MSN and other vendors. Recently, Google has published a new gadget which permits the embedding of Google Talk messenger right inside the iGoogle page.
To add Google Talk gadget on your iGoogle page, you just have to click the Add stuff link and perform a search based on chat keyword. In the search results you will identify the needed Google gadgets, such as Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, MSN Messenger and even an universal instant messaging client which connects users to all of these messaging services in the same time.
The Google Talk gadget published by Google will automatically import the chat settings already existing in Gmail chat and also allows you to invite more friends to use this service. The invitations are made only based on their email address and if they will sign up for iGoogle, their names will be available into the Google Talk chat window.
Currently, the Google Talk gadget is available only in English, but in the near future will be provided in more languages for iGoogle users. For detailed information, you can also check the help page.
