Free Download Windows 7 Build 7048: Internet Explorer 8 Is Removable
Even it is not officially released, the Windows 7 Build 7048 for 64bit platforms can be freely downloaded from torrent links. The possibility of turning off Internet Explorer 8 into Windows 7 Build 7048 64 bit was reported on AeroXperience and Chris Holmes blogs for the first time. There is also presented a screenshot showing the window containing the customizable Windows Features, as well as a detailed tutorial about how to disable Internet Explorer 8.
In Windows 7 Build 7048, the user has the permission to turn on or off various Windows features, like Games, Indexing Service, Internet Information Services, Media Features, Internet Explorer 8 and many other.
According to the AeroXperience blog, the Internet Explorer 8 components will still be in Windows, but the browser executable file will be deleted from its installation directory and in the same time, the Set Program Defaults section will no longer provide the possibility to set Internet Explorer 8 as default.
The decision of Microsoft to permit Windows users to disable Internet Explorer 8 can be associated with the recent accusations made by the European Union antitrust officials against Microsoft due to the bundling of Internet Explorer into Windows. We can expect to the same functionality from the Windows 7 Release Candidate, as well as Windows 7 Ultimate Edition.
The unofficial version of Windows 7 Build 7048 for 64bit platforms is distributed as ISO file and you will have to burn it on a DVD in order to install on your computer.
