In order to ensure the best users experience and to drive more traffic to an existing website, there is recommended to add social networking and bookmarking features to it. For a website built on the WordPress blogging platform the inclusion of the social networking related elements is relatively simple and can be performed with the help of free ready made plugins.

Users are able to join to the network based on their existing Google, Yahoo, AIM, or OpenID accounts. The widgets which come with this plugin permit users to post comments and YouTube videos.

All these plugins are kind of Yahoo’s MyFloglog. A true social network should allow users to be friends with each other on a site and allow them to form or join in groups or communities. Wordpress doesn’t support a full fledged social networking environment as of now… However, buddypress is being developed for Wordpress MU to boost social networking using wordpress.
