Google Eliminates The AdSense Video Units Feature
Due to a minor impact, the AdSense video units feature will no longer be available for new publishers. Based on this AdSense feature, the publishers were allowed to display YouTube videos and ads on their web pages. In the same time, AdSense for video is provided for the publishers of video content and the video ads will still be delivered through Google AdSense, if the publishers have enabled the option to display image ads in the AdSense for content units.
Video content from YouTube can be embedded into the web pages based on the corresponding HTML code, but the related ads will be removed. The video units will be completely eliminated at the end of the April, 2009.
In order to optimize the ads space reserved for video units, all webmasters should modify the current HTML code, because starting with the end of the April 2009, they will not generate revenues.
If you do not change the video units code, they will be automatically transformed to the standard embedded YouTube players or the users will be redirected to YouTube, in case of Leaderboard or Skyscraper video units.
According to the AdSense Official Blog, the remaining video units will show top YouTube videos:”These standard video players will display top YouTube videos, but you won’t generate earnings from them once this change occurs. If you have less than three ad units on your page, you may prefer to replace your video unit with a regular ad unit.”
The publishers are also ensured that the earnings generated from video units until their closing, will be credited to the corresponding AdSense accounts.
