Firefox 3.0.9 Was Released
A new stable version of Firefox web browser was released, as an integrated part of Mozilla Corporation’s ongoing security and stability process. Mozilla Firefox 3.0.9 comes with several issues fixed as compared with the previous browser version. Even more, now on the main page of the Mozilla website there is provided a link to a web based tool, Fashion Your Firefox, which is an easy-to-use online wizard designed to automate the process of finding add-ons based on the user interest.
In Firefox 3.0.9 were fixed many of the vulnerabilities discovered in the previous version (one critical, two high, two moderate and four minor security vulnerabilities):
-Firefox allows Refresh header to redirect to javascript: URIs
-POST data sent to wrong site when saving web page with embedded frame
-Malicious search plugins can inject code into arbitrary sites
-Same-origin violations in XMLHttpRequest and XPCNativeWrapper.toString
-XSS hazard using third-party stylesheets and XBL bindings
-Same-origin violations when Adobe Flash loaded via view-source: scheme
-jar: scheme ignores the content-disposition: header on the inner URI
-URL spoofing with box drawing character
-Crashes with evidence of memory corruption
Other solved issue regards the Firefox stability and is related to the situation when a corrupted local database determine the deletion of stored cookies. In the same time, Firefox now will correctly display of inline image attachments in case of popular email services as AOL or AIM and will allow the faster submission of large web forms.
Firefox 3.0.9 can be freely downloaded for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X operating systems, being available in a wide range of languages. Firefox 3.x users will be automatically notified by the existence of this update for the browser, but as an alternative, you can also manually update your Firefox by selecting “Check for Updates…” entry from the Help menu.
Firefox browser is very easy to customize with the help of various add-ons, which can also be freely downloaded and installed in a simple manner (with a few mouse clicks). On the other hand, the Firefox browser look and feel is changeable through themes or with Personas add-on, which permits the automatic addition of lightweight skins.
