According to Google Analytics Blog, now developers and end users can enjoy the benefits of the one of the most waited tool , Google Analytics API. Starting with April 21, 2009, all users of the Google Analytics service will be able to access their web traffic data with applications based on Google Analytics Data Export API beta. Practically, you can check Google Analytics data in many new ways, without the need of a web browser.
Developers have already created applications that permits the management of Google Analytics data from an Android powered mobile phone with Mobile GA for Android software or directly from a Windows, Linux or Mac OS X desktop with the help of Polaris, a cross-platform desktop widget which gives eight types of standard reports.
But this is not all: Google Analytics was also integrated into an email marketing platform and in web based services intended to add Google Analytics data into PowerPoint presentations. Other examples of applications using Google Analytics Data Export API beta are presented on Google Code website.
Google Analytics Data Export API provides read only access to the data associated to any existing account and has working principles which simplifies its implementation into applications or web services.
The Google Analytics API, being in essence a Google Data API, works on the same familiar API protocol as Google Calendar, Finance or Webmaster Tools. In case of JavaScript and Java programming languages, there are provided client libraries in order to simplify the development process. If you want to begin the creation of applications using the Google Analytics API, the related documentation is already published on Google Code website.
