Windows 7 RC Deepest Secrets: Screenshot Tour

windows-72 Windows 7 Release Candidate comes with new features and an improved functionality as compared with any previous Windows operating system version. In the first place, it boots fast (the booting time is under 20 seconds on a modern computer) and the automatic installer establishes the necessary settings for an optimal performance, without being need to perform further tweaks after the installation. You do not even need to burn a DVD in order to install the Release Candidate of Windows 7 from within a previous version of Windows. The installation can be initiated and completed just with the Windows 7 Release Candidate ISO file in its native form.

By installing Windows 7 Release Candidate on a different partition than your primary one, you can setup a dual boot sequence which will allow the selective deployment of the Windows RC, respectively of the previous Windows version initially installed on the primary hard disk partition.

You just have to mount the ISO with a virtual CD drive manager like MagicISO and run the Windows 7 RC installer from within the currently installed Windows operating system. The automatic installer will perform the necessary action to setup the operating system with a minimum number of actions required from the user part. As a consequence, if you are already running a previous version of Windows, a blank DVD and a DVD burner is not needed.

The users will notice many improvements of DirectAccess in smart card usage and diagnostics. Now, the possibility to enforce smart cards for all interactive logins is removed in the DirectAccess Wizard.

On the other hand, the enhanced support for troubleshooting is reflected into the new Windows Troubleshooting entry point within Control Panel. The Troubleshoot problems entry points will allow an easier solving of various issues, such as the case of a certain website which fails to load.

Windows 7 RC will also optimize the user experience in case of computers connected to slow networks through the new feature called transparent caching. Based on this feature, a file is requested from a server just once and then stored on a local cache. The operating system will not access the cache if the server is not available and permanently verifies if the file is up-to-date.

Other new features introduced in Windows 7 Release Candidate are: virtualization tools (Windows XP mode), improved security management options, Internet access to home media and more.
