Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor Is Here
Already announced last week by Microsoft, the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor tool, that helps users to check if their computer is ready to run Windows 7 was launched in beta. It will automatically display any existing compatibility issues for programs and devices with the Windows 7 operating system. Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor can be deployed on Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP Service Pack 2 (.NET 2.0 Framework or higher is also required in case of Windows XP users).
According to the Windows Experience blog, “Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor examines a PC’s processor, memory, storage, and graphics capabilities, identifies known compatibility issues with installed software and devices and finally provides guidance on how to resolve those issues if possible.”
In the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor report will also be provided guidelines on how to upgrade from a previous version of Windows to Windows 7.
An important aspect that must be taken into account by Windows XP users is the fact that they must perform a clean installation of Windows 7 Release Candidate, as well as Windows 7 final version. Windows Vista users can upgrade to Windows 7 without the need of a clean installation of the operating system.
Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor analyses the compatibility of existing hardware and software with Windows 7 RC starting from the minimum system requirements:
-1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
-1GB RAM (32-bit) / 2GB RAM (64-bit)
-16GB available disk space (32-bit) / 20GB (64-bit)
-DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM (Windows Display Driver Model) 1.0 or higher driver
In the same time, before you run Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, all devices like USB, printers, camera or others must be plugged into the computer. Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor software is very easy to install and use by anyone. It can be downloaded for free from the Microsoft Official website.
