New Options To Filter Results In Google Search Page
At the second Google Searchology event, there were unveiled new features related to the progress obtained into the web search technology. At first Searchology event was implemented the possibility to view on the search results page different types of results like web pages, images, videos or books. Now, Google introduces a new set of features named Search Options, that are grouped into a sidebar situated into the left side of the main browser window and allow you to get different views of the search results pages.
According to the Official Google Blog, “The Search Options panel also gives you the ability to view your results in new ways. One view gives you more information about each result, including images as well as text, while others let you explore and iterate your search in different ways.”
For example, in case of any search query, the results can be filtered based on their time stamp, the users are allowed to see only videos, related topics on forums or reviews.
In the same time, in the sidebar you will find the Wonder Wheel, which is a new results visualization option intended to allow users to try different suggestions for the search keywords or keyphrase. The search results could also be viewed based on a configurable timeline.
The web search process with Google is more informative now, because the set of information returned with each search result (snippet) go beyond the standard preview text, showing more data related to an existing website. The data is extracted with the help of microformats or RDFa standards.
The Search Options panel will definitely change the way in which users interact with Google search engine, by improving their experience. In the near future, Google will also release a new tool, Google Squared, capable to automatically fetch and organize facts from across the Internet. It will be available later this month via Google Labs.
