VLC Media Player 1.0.0 RC1 Was Released
VLC Media Player is a free software that provides support for playing a large number of multimedia files formats, DVDs, VCDs, and content delivered via various streaming protocols, without the need of supplementary codecs. It supports the following file formats: MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg and more.
On the other hand VLC Media Player could be deployed as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a network with sufficiently high bandwidth. VLC Media Player version 1.0.0 RC1was just released and is available for free download.
There are many new features included in VLC Media Player version 1.0.0 RC1, such as:
-Instantaneous pausing
-Frame-by-Frame playback
-On-the-fly recording for all medias
-Timeshift for most medias
-RTSP trickplay support
-Subtitles core improvements and fixes
-New decoders (AES3 (SMPTE 302M) decoder, Dolby Digital Plus - E-AC-3 (A/52b) decoder, True HD/MLP decoder and parser, Blu-Ray Linear PCM decoder and more)
-Support for Dirac, MLP and RealVideo in Matroska files
VideoLAN project has also announced the first public release of DVBlast, a simple and powerful streaming application for linux-dvb devices.
DVBlast is capable to open a DVB device, tunes it, places PID filters, configures a CAM module and demultiplexes the packets to several RTP outputs. DVBlast is also available for free download.
